BBH Birth Assistant Training Program

A home birth team often includes a birth assistant. The BBH Birth Assistant training is designed to teach the basic scope of practice of a birth assistant and the skills necessary to support a midwife.

The online portion of this course covers everything you need to know to get started. The in-person skills workshop (hosted by BBH or a local provider near you) provides a hands-on opportunity to practice basic vital signs, learn more about what to expect at a homebirth, and a chance to practice birth scenarios. 

In the video below, you will see the in-person workshop includes the opportunity to practice basic skills on a near-term pregnant person as well as instructor led scenarios and information. 

In addition to the online portion and in-person skills workshop, NRP and CPR certification is required to obtain a certificate of completion.
